Overview: Governor Raimondo discussed 6 key questions that had to be resolved before the state could reopen. They were: (1) Has the rate of infection continued to decrease? (2) Will the state have the ability to test and sufficiently track down other potential carriers to “quickly pinpoint a problem” and fend off another major outbreak? (3) Will Rhode Island have enough support in place to protect vulnerable populations and those in quarantine if another outbreak happens? (4) Will hospitals be equipped with enough beds, ventilators and personal protective equipment to handle future surges? (5) Do businesses, schools, child-care centers, churches and recreational spaces have plans for long-term social distancing? (6) Is the state prepared to reimpose restrictions or shut down certain sectors of the economy again if it becomes necessary?
