Overview: The German Government will provide income compensation for people who have to look after their own children because of school or daycare closures and cannot go to work.
The compensation will cover 67 percent of a personâ€™s ordinary monthly income up to 2,016 euros for up to six weeks. The payment will be made by a personâ€™s employer who can apply for reimbursement from the state authority.
To qualify, a parent must have to look after children under 12 years of age because care cannot be guaranteed elsewhere and the parentâ€™s flexitime or overtime credits must have already been exhausted.
