Overview: President Nayib Bukele, through the Health Cabinet, has already taken the necessary measures to protect the population and abide by internationally established security protocols in situations of risk.
In this sense, the health authorities in El Salvador have taken measures, such as the reinforcement of the controls at the airport, after the first outbreak of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus strain was announced, and the first case imported into the United States.
El Salvador maintains permanent surveillance, but given the appearance of the new 2019 Novel Coronavirus variety, it has intensified its epidemiological surveillance actions at points of entry into the country.
The country has permanent epidemiological surveillance of circulating respiratory viruses, with an emphasis on influenza and the detection of new viruses with epidemic potential.
The country has rapid response teams with trained personnel to carry out the necessary research, take samples, and establish prevention and control measures; Likewise, clinical staff are trained in the management of patients with respiratory problems in hospitals and all establishments of the national health system.
The surveillance that is carried out constantly in the 10 International Sanitary Offices (OSI) at authorized air, land and maritime entry points has been intensified to detect people from places of risk and who have symptoms.
