
Naledi Pandor, South Africa’s science minister, told a delegates at last week’s Euroscience Open Forum that South African scientists are playing more of a leading role in driving policy responses to important societal issues such as HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.
She says a growing use of research in evidence-based policies suggests that a “turnaround is beginning to occur in the way our politicians see our scientists…we have begun to see a quite exciting forward movement.”
